On the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA80), author and entrepreneur Nthanda Manduwi officially launched her second book, Feminine Silence: Walking on Glass Shells, in New York City.
This new edition features a foreword by H.E. Dr. Agnes Chimbiri-Molande, Malawi’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations. Dr. Chimbiri-Molande attended the launch as Guest of Honour at a private dinner hosted at Sinigual in Midtown East Manhattan.
The event gathered a cross-section of Manduwi’s network, including Malawians living across the Tri-State Area, members of Malawi’s official delegation to UNGA, Prof. Samson Mikeka of Malawi’s Department of Science, Technology & Innovation (DSTI), and representatives of the Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD) community. Guests joined to celebrate Manduwi’s latest work and reflect on its timely exploration of gender, power, and social transformation.
Feminine Silence builds on Manduwi’s ongoing advocacy for education reform and gender equity across Africa. The book blends personal narrative with critical reflection on the systems that shape women’s lives, challenging entrenched norms and inspiring a new conversation about empowerment.
